Gains last month in Europe (+2% to 292,600 units) and China (+14% to 400,100) offset declines in the U.S. (-7% to 36,400 vehicles) and Brazil (-39% to 23,500).
January deliveries of VW brand cars and SUV/crossovers gained 3% to 521,400 units. Analysts say the uptick suggests the negative impact of the company’s diesel emission cheating scandal is waning, at least outside the U.S.
Audi brand sales in January rose 4% to 153,200 units. Skoda’s volume climbed 5% to 91,600 vehicles. Porsche deliveries surged 24% to 19,900. SEAT sales were unchanged at 27,700 units.
