Volkswagen Group reports its worldwide deliveries last month totaled 947,600 units compared with 885,200 in September 2015. The company posted gains in all major markets except Russia and South America.
Deliveries of VW brand models rose 7% to 547,700 cars. The gain pushed the brand’s volume for the first nine months to 4.37 million units, up 1% compared with the same period last year. Analysts say the improvement suggests the company is recovering from its worldwide diesel emission cheating scandal.
Global sales by the group’s Audi luxury brand rose 2% to 173,900 units last month. Volume rose for Skoda (+14% to 107,100 cars), SEAT (+8% to 35,800) and Porsche (+7% to 22,000).
Results for the group’s heavy-truck brands were mixed. Deliveries rose 2% to 9,200 trucks for MAN but slipped less than 1% to 7,200 for Scania. Sales by VW Commercial Vehicle soared 19% to 43,200 light-duty vehicles.
Total vehicle sales for VW Group advanced 2% to 7.61 million in January-September.
