VW Group Posts 3% Sales Gain in October

Volkswagen AG reports its worldwide group sales of passenger vehicle rose 3% to 842,700 units last month. Results pushed the company's volume in January-October to a record 8.24 million units, up 5%.

Group deliveries in the first 10 months of 2014 jumped 13% to 2.95 million vehicles in Asia and rose 6% to 3.24 million in Europe. Volume declined 1% to 728,700 in North America and plunged 20% to 604,100 in South America.

Results for January-October were driven by big gains for all high-volume brands: Volkswagen (+3% to 5.08 million), Audi (+10% to 1.44 million), Skoda (+13% to 865,100) and SEAT (+11% to 326,000). Porsche sales climbed 14% to 151,000 cars and crossover vehicles.
