VW Expects to Boost Sales 9% in China Next Year

Volkswagen AG, which predicts its group sales in China will climb 10% to 2.49 million units this year, anticipates a gain of at least 9% there in 2013, says Bloomberg News.

The company sold 2.26 million vehicles in China last year, up 17% from 2010.

Chairman Ferdinand Piech tells the news service the "tremendous" growth will result from rising car ownership by Chinese consumers.

VW said last year it would double its production capacity in the country to 4 million vehicles per year by 2018 to meet rising demand.
