VW: China’s FAW Didn’t Violate Patents

Volkswagen AG has decided its Chinese partner FAW Group Corp. did not illegally use some of the Germany company's technology.

News media reported this summer that FAW had copied a VW transmission design for use in a China-made vehicle it sells in Russia. VW acknowledged in July it was investigating a possible infringement.

VW's statement came as it agreed to extend its joint venture with Chinese carmaker FAW Group Corp. by another 25 years. The pact was due to expire in 2016.
