Volkswagen AG says it has bolstered it new-car supplies in the U.K. to cope with expected supply disruptions when Britain exits the European Union on Oct. 31.

Juergen Stackmann, who oversees sales and marketing for the VW brand, tells Reuters the unspecified increase will enable the group to delay the impact of anticipated higher tariffs. But he concedes there are limits to what the company can do.
If new tariffs are imposed because of a “hard” Brexit, Stackmann says VW will have no choice but to raise vehicle prices accordingly.
