Volvo Truck Deliveries Unchanged in May

Volvo Group delivered 17,500 commercial trucks last month, the same as in May 2014. Sales through the first five months of 2015 rose 2% to 83,500 units.

Demand for the company's Dongfeng, Eicher, Mack, Renault, UD and Volvo brands grew 4% to 6,300 units in Europe and 4% to 3,100 units in Asia. Sales surged 22% to 5,800 in North America. But those gains were offset by a 58% drop to 900 vehicles in South America.

Deliveries of heavy-duty vehicles, which account for 86% of Volvo Truck's total volume, advanced 4% in May. Sales of medium- and light-duty trucks fell 10% to 1,300 and 22% to 1,200, respectively.
