Volvo Car Group says it will relocate output of its large V60 sports wagon from Gothenburg, Sweden, to Ghent, Belgium, in early 2017.

The move will free up capacity in Sweden to make more 90-series large sedans, wagons and crossovers. The Ghent plant already builds S60 sedans and XD60 crossovers along with the V40 small hatchback.

The company tells Automotive News Europe the Gothenburg facility will supply Ghent with body panels for the V60.

Ghent also is preparing to make a hybrid version of the next-generation V40 in late 2017. Volvo has said it intends to offer a hybrid option in all model lines and hopes such powertrains will account for 10% of its global sales by about the end of the decade.
