Volvo Car Corp. says its new Polestar Performance Optimization option enhances driving responsiveness and dynamics in vehicles equipped with its T6 all-wheel-drive system.
Developed by its Polestar tuner unit, which Volvo acquired last summer, the software upgrade improves throttle response and midrange engine performance. Off-throttle response also has been recalibrated for better engine management while braking or corning, according to the carmaker. Purported transmission benefits include faster gear shifts, optimized shift timing and gear holding through corners.
The base T6 awd package is available on Volvo’s S60, V60, XC60 and XC90 models powered by the company’s twin-charged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engines that teams a supercharger with a turbocharger. The powertrain generates as much as 325 hp.
Volvo says the new Polestar option is warranty compliant and will not reduce a vehicle’s fuel efficiency.
