Volvo Car Corp. is recalling 17,500 late-model cars and crossovers in the U.S. to fix the system that gives emergency responders the vehicle’s location after a crash.
The company says faulty software prevents the vehicle’s GPS from providing accurate location information in an emergency. Owners also may get a warning message when they start their vehicles or experience problems with their vehicle’s navigation system.
The callback targets 2017-2019 model Volvo S90 sport sedans, V60 midsize sport wagons, V90 large wagons and XC40/XC60/XC90 crossover vehicles.
Volvo says dealers will replace the software when the recall begins in early January.
