Volvo Car Corp. has begun making its best-selling XC60 crossover vehicles at a factory in Chengdu, China. The facility will begin exporting some of its output to the U.S. in 2015.

The new plant has capacity to make about 120,000 vehicles per year. Volvo says XC60 sales in China are up by one-third, reaching 24,900 units in the first nine months of 2019.

The company also produces the extended-wheelbase S60L sedan In Chengdu and the first-generation XC60 Classic in Daqing. Volvo imports two more models to China: the V60 sport wagon and V40 hatchback.
