German mechanical engineering firm Voith GmbH has appointed Carsten Reinhardt to serve as a member of its management board and CEO of its Voith Turbo subsidiary, beginning July 1.

At the turbo unit, which makes propulsion and braking systems, Reinhardt will replace Hubert Lienhard, Voith president and CEO, who has overseen the unit since Jan. 1.

Reinhardt began his career in 1993 at Daimler AG's commercial vehicle unit and moved through jobs at Freightliner and Western Star Trucks. In 2003, he was named CEO of Daimler Truck's North American engine unit, Detroit Diesel Corp.

In 2006, Reinhardt joined Troy, Mich.-based Meritor Inc. He oversaw the global commercial vehicle business as COO from late 2009 until he left the company in July 2011.
