U.S. Traffic Deaths on the Rise

Traffic fatalities in the U.S. have climbed 8% since October, including an 11% jump since February, reports the National Safety Council.

The council predicts the monthly year-on-year increases will continue through August. The group points out that traffic deaths are routinely higher in the summer, thanks to multiple long holiday weekends and an increase in overall miles driven.

The safety group notes that America's growing economy also will put more people on the road this year.
