U.S. sales of General Motors Co.’s Buick Envision, a midsize crossover vehicle built in China, have been brisk since the car went on sale five months ago, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Sales of the $40,000 model averaged about 1,400 units in June and July, then accelerated to top 1,600 in September, according to Autodata Corp. The Journal says dealers are clamoring for more units to sell and are reporting little concern among buyers about the origin of the cars.

Buick is a hugely popular brand in China, where sales are four times as great as in the U.S. Late last year GM said it would import the Envision to meet strong demand among American buyers for SUV/crossover models. The Journal says Envision sales in China are likely to top 200,000 units this year.
