Daimler AG says it will decide by year-end whether to offer its upcoming light-duty pickup truck in the U.S., Automotive News reports.
Last month The Wall Street Journal said the truck will be co-developed with Nissan Motor Co. for multiple markets but not the U.S.
But Steve Cannon, CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, says the American market could be included if Daimler agrees. Cannon says the truck, which will be marketed as a commercial vehicle in most regions, would be presented as a luxury passenger vehicle in the U.S. and sold through the brand's entire dealership network.
