The average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in the U.S. rose to $2.41 this week, its highest price so far this year. Fuel prices were 12 cents lower a month ago and 30 center cheaper a year ago, according to AAA.

Averages range from $3.06 in Hawaii to $2.13 in South Carolina. AAA says refinery maintenance is likely to contribute to higher prices this month in several regions.

Oil production in the U.S. is on the rise. Analysts say the trend could offset efforts by the Organization of the Oil Producing Countries to push petroleum prices higher by continuing to limit output slightly.
