The agency says it is now looking at 2013 model Fusion and Lincoln MKZ midsize sedans in addition to 2011-2013 model Fiesta small cars. All three models use the same latch system.
Ford has received more than 1,000 warranty claims from owners about doors opening inadvertently when the vehicle is in motion.
