Mitsubishi Motors Corp. this week delivered more than 600 plug-in hybrid variants of its Outlander crossover vehicle to the National Police of Ukraine.

The vehicles will be used for unspecified police work. MMC says the order is its largest ever for plug-in hybrid models to a police fleet.

Launched in 2013, the Outlander PHEV teams a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a pair of electric motors. Nearly 81,000 Outlander PHEV’s have been sold worldwide through the end of 2016 and it has been the best-selling plug-in hybrid in Europe for four straight years, according to the carmaker.

The sale qualifies under the Kyoto Protocol Green Investment Scheme that will allow Ukraine to trade emissions credits for using environmentally friendly vehicles. MMC previously shipped 500 of its all-electric i‐MiEV city car to Estonia under the plan.
