The developers of the U.K.’s Bicester Heritage center outside London plan to add a hotel and other amenities to create a high-end resort for car enthusiasts.

Located on the site of a former Royal Air Force base 90 minutes northwest of London, the 348-acre complex was reopened five years ago as an exhibition, event and shopping center for fans of vintage cars and airplanes. The site includes a race track, shops, restoration garages and classes, and museum with 35 vintage vehicles.

The proposed 344-room, automotive-themed hotel and spa is expected to be completed within three years. Several stand-alone luxury “motor lodge” suites also are planned.

The airfield, which dates back to 1916, was a key site during World War II. The developers also tout the site’s close proximity to the U.K.’s so-called “Motorsport Valley” area that serves as the home of several Formula One race teams and the legendary Silverstone Circuit race course where the British Grand Prix is held.
