Uber Technologies Inc., the San Francisco-based ride-share provider, has set up an office in Amsterdam to develop smartphone apps for its services, the Associated Press reports.

The unit opened with a staff of 10 mobile software experts. The company plans to add add 20-30 more engineers in 2015.

AP says Uber opened the facility in part to access European software talent while avoiding the challenges of obtaining U.S. visas for them to work in the U.S.
