The United Auto Workers union has summoned its 175-member General Motors Council for a meeting in Detroit on Thursday about the union’s month-old GM strike.

Negotiations between the UAW and GM are expected to continue today. But reports say there is no tentative agreement yet.

The UAW describes the unusual meeting as an update on the status of the negotiations, which began in July. The union struck GM’s U.S. facilities on Sept. 16, the day after its four-year contract with GM expired.

One analyst tells the Detroit Free Press that the move may indicate that the UAW expects to reach a tentative deal by Thursday—or that negotiators want the council to strongly reject GM’s most recent offer.
