TVR Manufacturing Ltd. says its upcoming high-performance sports car will be produced at a factory in Ebbw Vale in Wales, U.K.
The company said in December it would begin delivering the £70,000 ($100,600) two-seater in 2017. TVR also announced at the time it had collected £5,000 deposits for all 250 models planned in the first year of production. The company aims to achieve annual output of 2,000 cars by 2022.
The car will have a carbon-fiber chassis and body panels made of aluminum and composite materials. Power will come from a Cosworth-tuned V-8 engine that is expected to produce at least 450 hp.
TVR began operations in the U.K. in 1947 but stopped making cars when it slipped into receivership in 2006. TVR’s new ownership consists of about a dozen people who purchased TVR from Russian oligarch Nikolai Smolenski in 2013.
The still-unnamed sports car was developed by former McLaren Formula One team technical director Gordon Murray and will be produced using his company’s innovative iSTream production process.
TVR indicated in December the sports car will be offered as a coupe and convertible. The company also said it plans to debut a second car next year that also will be available in coupe and convertible configurations.
