Truck Sales in Europe Rise 6%

Deliveries of commercial trucks, vans and buses across Europe climbed to 167,000 units in May from 157,900 a year earlier, according to industry group ACEA.

Growth included a 4% increase to 137,300 units for light commercial trucks and a 19% jump to 21,200 units for heavy-duty vehicles.

May sales were driven by big gains in the U.K. (+17% to 32,300 units), Spain (+30% to 15,200) and Italy (+3% to 12,300) ). Demand fell in France (-6% to 30,200) and Germany (-9% to 25,400).

Combined commercial-vehicle sales throughout Europe in January-May expanded 11% to 863,900 vehicles.
