Truck Sales in Europe Rise 11%

January registrations of commercial vehicles across Europe climbed to 164,900 units from 148,000 in the same period last year, trade group ACEA reports.

Results were led by double-digit gains in France (+12% to 32,000), Germany (+12% to 24,100), Italy (+24% to 13,500) and Spain (+21% to 13,100). Sales in the U.K. slipped 1% to 24,600 units in January.

Demand for light commercial vehicles grew 10% to 134,400 last month. Sales of heavy trucks expanded 18% to 22,600 units, according to ACEA. Bus and coach sales were flat.
