Truck Sales in Europe Grew 16% in May

Deliveries of commercial trucks and buses across Europe climbed to 193,600 units in May from 167,300 in the same month last year, industry group ACEA reports.

Sales surged in France (+27% to 38,400 units), Germany (+11% to 28,200), Italy (+36% to 16,900) and Spain (+17% to 17,800). Volume advanced 2% to 33,000 units in the U.K.

Demand for light commercial vehicles, which account for more than 80% of the market, grew 17% to 160,700 units. Sales of heavy trucks expanded 12% to 23,800 units. Deliveries of medium and heavy buses advanced 4% to 3,300.
