Truck Sales Climb 7% in Europe in October

The expansion was half the September rate, when sales surged 15% to 214,100 vehicles on strong gains in all five of Europe’s largest markets.
October volumes rose in France (+4% to 40,000), Germany (+7% to 33,000), Italy (+8% to 13,700) and Spain (+23% to 18,100).
October sales declined 3% to 34,300 vehicles in the U.K., as a 30% drop in heavy trucks offset a 6% gain in light-duty units. September truck sales in the U.K. climbed 20% to 65,800 units.
European demand in October for light vehicles (3.5 tons or less) increased 7% to 156,400 units overall. Sales of heavy commercial vehicles (16 tons or more), advanced 5% to 28,900 units.
Truck deliveries through the first 10 months of 2015 totaled 1.77 million units, up 11% from the same period last year, according to ACEA.
