Toyota Motor Co. President Akio Toyoda collected 352 million yen ($2.9 million) in salary and other compensation for the fiscal year ended March 31, according to a regulatory filing.
Two-thirds of Toyoda's pay was in the form of a bonus, which nearly doubled. He also owns about 4.6 million shares of Toyota stock, whose dividends hiked his total earnings for the year to nearly 1.3 billion yen ($10.23 million).
Toyoda's net payout makes him the highest-paid executive in the Japanese auto industry. That record was briefly held by Nissan Motor Co. CEO Carlos Ghosn, whose 1 billion-yen total was reported earlier this week.
