Toyota has targeted sales of 400 of the 7.2 million-yen ($61,100) cars in Japan by the end of 2015. The company says it already has collected orders in the country for more than 400 of the hydrogen-fueled cars.

The Mirai will debut in the U.S. next year. Toyota hopes to sell 3,000 of the cars there by the end of 2017.
