Toyota Will Add Daihatsu-Made “Tall” Mini-Wagon

Toyota Motor Co. expects to introduce a new line of “tall wagon” minivehicles in Japan as soon as this autumn, according to The Nikkei, which cites no sources.

The cars will be supplied by affiliate Daihatsu Motor Co. and priced around 1 million yen ($8,600), according to the newspaper. It says the cars will be offered with a range of naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines that displace about 1 liter.

Daihatsu already supplies Toyota with four minicars, including the Passo sedan and Rush SUV. The new models will complete with Daihatsu’s own Tanto wagon-style minicar and the Honda N Box tall wagon.
