Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling 142,600 of its 2005-2011 model Lexus cars and SUVs in China to replace potentially dangerous airbag inflators.
China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine confirmed the callback on Tuesday. The watchdog agency didn’t reveal the name of the inflator supplier, but the campaign appears to be part of a global recall of Takata Corp. inflators announced by Toyota in June.
All the affected IS and ES sedans and GX460 SUVs in China were imported from Japan. Toyota has recalled more than 17 million Takata inflators worldwide in the past eight years.
