Toyota Motor Corp. says it will spend about $30 million to expand capacity to build four-cylinder engines at its factory in Georgetown, Ky., by more than 100,000 units by August 2013.

The investment will bring the Kentucky plant's capacity to more than 500,000 engines per year and create about 800 jobs. The facility currently makes engines for the Toyota Avalon large sedan, Camry midsize car and Venza midsize crossover vehicle produced at the Georgetown complex.

The expansion will allow the factory to supply RAV4 compact crossovers built at Toyota's facility in Woodstock, Ont., and provide additional engines for the Kentucky-made Camry and Camry hybrid.

Since February the company has announced other investments totaling $535 million to boost production in Indiana, West Virginia and Ontario. Those expansions will add nearly 900 jobs.
