Aichi Steel Corp. has resumed production of specialty steels at its factory in Tokai, Japan after an explosion there in January halted output.

The Aichi shutdown created shortages that forced Toyota Motor Corp. to suspend assembly operations throughout Japan for a week in early February. The carmaker says it will increase production to recover about 100,000 units of production lost during the shutdown.
