Toyota held onto its title as the world's most valuable automotive brand, according to Interbrand's annual Best Global Brands report.

Coca-Cola tops the New York City-based brand consulting group's list for the 13th consecutive year with an estimated brand value of $77.8 billion. Apple vaulted from 8th in 2011 to 2nd, pushing IBM down one rung, followed by Google and Microsoft.

Toyota ($30.3 billion) and Mercedes-Benz ($30.1 billion) each moved up one rung from last year to 10th and 11th place, respectively. BMW ($29.1 billion) jumped three steps to No. 12.

Other automakers on the list include Honda (21 at $17.3 billion), Volkswagen (39 at $9.3 billion), Ford (45 at $8 billion), Hyundai (53 at $7.5 billion) and Audi (55 at $7.2 billion). Porsche (72 at $5.1 billion) ranked three steps behind list newcomer Facebook.

Nissan (73 at $5 billion) climbed from 90th place. Kia (87 at $4.1 billion) joins the top 100 for the first time. Harley Davidson ranked 96th ($3.9 billion).

Interbrand ranks brands according to their strength, role in purchasing decision and "economic profit" (net operating profit after tax, minus capital used).
