Toyota Motor Corp. retained its standing as the world's most valuable automotive brand this year, according to this year's BrandZ Top 100 Global Brands list from London-based brand research firm Millward Brown.
Toyota ranks 30th on the 2015 overall list with an estimated brand value of $28.9 billion, down from $29.6 billion in 2014.
Toyota is followed by BMW ($26.3 billion), Mercedes-Benz ($21.9 billion), Honda ($13.3 billion), Ford ($13.1 billion) and Nissan ($11.4 billion). The ranking of all six brands are unchanged from the 2014 list.
This year's ranking is topped by Apple ($247 billion), Google ($173.7 billion) and Microsoft ($115.5 billion).
The value of the auto sector's top 10 brands increased 3% to $143.6 billion this year, according to the report. It says growth is being hampered by a lack of brand differentiation and uncertainty about the evolving nature of personal transportation.
