Toyota is the auto industry's most valuable brand for the 11th consecutive year, according to Interbrand's annual ranking of the world's top 100 brands.

Ratings by the Omnicom Group unit value Toyota in 8th position at at $42.2 billion, followed by Mercedes-Benz (10th at $34.3 billion), BMW (11th at $34.2 billion), Honda (20th at $21.7 billion) and Volkswagen (31st at $13.7 billion).

Eight other automotive brands appear on the top 100 list. They include Ford (39th at $10.9 billion), Hyundai (40th at $10.4 billion), Audi (45th at $9.8 billion), Nissan (56th at $7.6 billion), Porsche (60th at $7.2 billion), Kia (74th at $5.4 billion), Chevrolet (82nd at $5.0 billion) and Land Rover (91st at $4.5 billion).

Topping the Interbrand list overall are Apple ($118.9 billion), Google ($107.4 billion) and Coca-Cola ($82.6 billion).

Interbrand calculates brand value in terms of financial performance, price, earning strength and influence on customer choice.
