Toyota Motor Corp. has retained its position as the world’s biggest carmaker by sales, delivering 10.15 million vehicles worldwide in 2015.
The company’s volume—which includes its Daihatsu Motor minicar and Hino Motors commercial truck units—compares with 9.93 million for Volkswagen Group and 9.84 million for General Motors. Sales by all three companies slipped last year on weaker demand in China and South America.
Toyota’s sales dipped 1% in 2015, dragged down by a 7% decline to 2.17 million units in Japan. Demand elsewhere rose 1% to 7.98 million last year.
