Toyota Motor Corp. plans to spend $126 million to centralize and broaden powertrain and vehicle development operations in southeast Michigan.

It's the third announced expansion of Toyota facilities and employment in Michigan in 14 months. The investment supports plans unveiled in April to relocate the company's U.S. headquarters from California to Kentucky and reassign some of its engineers to Ann Arbor.

The latest investment will extend existing powertrain operations in Ann Arbor and consolidate vehicle development work at a new facility being added to its York township campus.
