Toyota Motor Corp. is developing a new head-up display system that can move the position of the displayed information based on vehicle and driver inputs.
The patent-pending system uses a driver-facing camera to adjust the display to the driver’s sightline according to a vehicle’s steering angle and where the driver’s eyes are directed. The display also will be adjusted according to vehicle speeds, since drivers need to focus farther down the road at faster speeds.
The head-up display also will be able to incorporate information from lane-departure warning systems to show the vehicle’s location within a lane.
