Tokyo Auto Show Announces Tech & Fantasy Theme

Next year's Tokyo auto show theme will be "technology and fantasy," according to organizers. The phrase aptly describes previous shows, which have been known for their bizarre concept vehicles.

The Tokyo show, which occurs every other year, will return to its more traditional October date. Last year the event was scheduled in November on top of simultaneous auto shows in Los Angeles and Guangzhou.

The 2015 Tokyo show will start with media preview days on Oct. 28-29, then open to the public Oct. 29-Nov. 8. No word yet on whether any of Detroit's Big Three carmakers, which shunned the past three events, will appear next year.
