In a Twitter post, CEO Elon Musk describes the electric big-rig as “unreal” and “worth seeing this beast in person.” But he cautions that the October test drive date is tentative.
A Reuters report last month said the Tesla semi would be able to drive as far as 300 miles fully loaded. Tesla also is said to be developing a self-driving system for the vehicle.
Unofficial reports suggest the Tesla semi will be capable of cruising up to 300 miles on a single charge. It is expected to be available with a day cab, lacking the sleeper accommodations of a long-haul semi.
