Tesla Inc. says its $35,000 Model 3 electric sedan has received all government certifications and will be delivered to the first 30 customers on July 28.

The Model 3 is Tesla’s first mass-market model and will be crucial in enabling sustainable profitability. The EV company is counting on the midsize model to multiply its sales volume from 76,200 units in 2016 to 500,000 by 2018 and 1 million in 2020.

The new car will join the Model S large sedan ($69,500) and Model X crossover ($82,500). Tesla plans to add the Model Y, a crossover variant of the Model 3, in about 2020.
