Tesla Poised to Fire China Sales Execs?

Tesla Motors Inc. CEO Elon Musk is poised to dismiss or demote several executives in China because sales of the company's Model S electric car are far below target, sources tell Reuters.

Musk boasted earlier that Model S sales in China by the end of this year could equal those in the U.S., where volume reached about 35,000 in 2014. But Reuters' sources say Tesla sold only 120 cars in China in January.

In an e-mail to staffers, Musk reportedly added that similar staff shuffles "will likely happen in some other countries too."

Tesla's top sales job in China has churned three times in the past 11 months, most recently in mid-December. Reuters notes that Musk may announce staff changes on Wednesday when he reports quarterly earnings results to Tesla shareholders.
