Tesla Inc. has applied for a permit to erect a 4,000 sq-ft tent to shelter its electric cars as they are being staged for shipment to customers, Bloomberg News reports.
The proposed structure would be built on Tesla’s logistics yard, according to the news service. It says the tent is meant to address photos over the past few weeks that show thousands of the company’s electric cars sitting in open lots awaiting distribution.
The tent would be Tesla’s second such structure. In June the company set up a makeshift assembly line under a huge tent outside its assembly plant in Fremont, Calif., to boost output of its Model 3 sedan.
