Tesla Motors Inc. and China Unicom Ltd. plan to install 400 electric car charging stations, including 20 "supercharger" direct-current facilities for Tesla's own EVs.
The partners will put the chargers at China Unicom facilities in 120 cities. The telecom company already provides Internet connectivity for Tesla vehicles sold in China.
Tesla has separately signed deals with property developers and hotels to install charging stations in China. The country is still finalizing standards for such facilities, but the company says its stations will comply with whatever regulations emerge.
