Tesla Hires Apple Engineer to Head New-Car Development
Electric car maker Tesla Motors Inc. has hired Doug Field, a former Apple Inc. product developer, to the new position of vice president of vehicle programs.

Electric car maker Tesla Motors Inc. has hired Doug Field, a former Apple Inc. product developer, to the new position of vice president of vehicle programs.
Field, a former Ford Motor Co. engineer, previously was vice president of Apple's Mac hardware engineering. Before joining Apple, he was vice president of design and engineering at scooter maker Segway Inc.
Field holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and a master's degree in mechanical engineering and management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
