Tesla Motors Inc. has updated the software in its electric cars after security researchers in China found a flaw that enabled them to remotely control the car’s brakes, wipers and trunk lid release.
The vulnerability was discovered by two cyber security experts at the Keen Security Lab of investment company Tencent Holdings Ltd.
Tesla says it performed the update wirelessly worldwide 10 days after learning about the problem. The company says the hack was possible only when the web browser in one of its cars was in use and near a wi-fi hot spot.
