Tesla Motors Inc. is hiking the warranty on the propulsion components of its Model S electric sedan to 8 years and "infinite" miles. The company already warrants the car's battery for 8 years and unlimited miles.
The extended drivetrain warranty applies regardless of how many owners the car has during the period. Tesla CEO Elon Musk notes the new coverage applies to all Model S cars, not just new sales.
