Tesla Cuts Staff in China

Electric-carmaker Tesla Motors Inc. confirms it is reducing its workforce in China as it restructures to "better respond" to the local market.

Tesla has not affirmed a report by China's Economic Observer that it will eliminate 180 of 600 jobs in China. The newspaper claims the company is cutting its local sales department 50% and conducting more moderate reductions in marketing, administrative and public relations activities.

China's EV market has been sluggish, in large part because of a lack of charging infrastructure.
