Tesla Motors Inc. CEO Elon Musk confirms to Bloomberg TV that the company met with Apple Inc. last year for "conversations."
Earlier this week the San Francisco Chronicle reported on the meeting. The news touched of a tsunami of speculation that Apple might want to acquire the California-based electric car maker, sparking yet another spike in Tesla's stock price.
Musk declined to say what the two companies discussed. But he tells Bloomberg it's "very unlikely" he would sell the company. Musk says acquisition negotiations would distract the company from "creating a compelling mass-market electric car."
One analyst points out that Tesla's management may not wish to be managed by outsiders. And he notes that any buyer would probably not want to discuss a purchase price until Tesla's stock price stabilizes.
