Tesla Motors Inc. says it will recall about 1,200 of its Model S electric sedans to strengthen a rear seat bracket that could fail in a crash.
The bracket, which was damaged during production, is part of a system used to latch the left rear seatback in the upright position.
Tesla tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that fewer than 250 cars actually have the defect. The repairs will cost the company about $150,000, according to Reuters.
